Our activies are two-fold: academic and operational.

In the academic and scientific realm, the mission of the CED^R is to determine the actual factors of desertification - often a cause of debate and controversy - for specific areas. This work results in the public of reports and papers for the use of academia, governmental and inter-governmental organizations as well as ONGs.

The raison d'être of our research is to results in improved operational programs in areas considered as "high priority".

These programs focus on:

  • local educational sessions (for local officials and villagers)
  • reseeding and replanting
  • wood-fuel management and / or substitution
  • controlled grazing and herding
  • water management solutions
  • diatery and nutritional education.

To accomplish this mission, the Center needs adequate funding and calls upon private, corporate, philanthropic and institutional support.

Please contact the Secretariat for more information.
