CED^R stands for "Council on Ecological Desertification and Reforestation". Of course, the name CED^R should also remind us of the glorious trees that were once the glory of Lebanon.

The Council was formally established in 2006 as a specialized agency of the International Organization for Sustainable Development. In July 2008, CED^R was integrated within EUCLID (Euclid University) as an affiliated institute, in accordance with the governmentally approved Statutes.

It is an academic and operational IGO agency dedicated to finding and implementing solutions to the problem of ecological desertification, with a special focus on the sub-saharan desert.

The Council was consituted within the context of the Euclid/IOSD - University of N'Djamena (Chad) cooperation in the field of Sustainable Development.

Our goal is to provide accurate information on the topic of desertification - and to implement proven solutions to reverse this process. Our two main areas of testing and implementation are Eritrea, Chad and the Central African Republic.

The Center is open to private and institutional membership and partnership. Please contact the Secretariat for more information.

EUCLID and CED^R support the Great Green Wall initiative.
