Enjoying great camping in Africa’s Kalahari Desert is more than just sleeping in a tent beside a campfire. A visit to Makgadikgadi on Hyena Island offers the unique experience of taking a 4X4 dune buggy ride over a dried up lake bed referred to as the salt pans. This area is a mecca for archeology lovers hoping to see such things as stone age relics and animal carcases. When rain returns water to the lake it becomes a haven for exotic birds, zebras and wildebeests.

Central Africa is home to the world’s largest game reserve. Camping in this very remote area can be very rewarding. Visitors have the opportunity to see lions, cheetahs and jackals. Camp life can be very interesting especially if you are visited by huge scorpions and kept company at night by the barking geckos. Visitors may also encounter nests of baby Bateared foxes as well.

A unique experience awaits those who choose to go on a motorcycle safari around Namibia. The ride can offer everything from biking along the desert flats or over the dunes to visiting Africa’s largest canyon. The sighting of elephants, leopards and rhinos is very probable as you ride round the area.
