Why in the world you would you ever want to take a trip to an arid desert? There is absolutely no life in the desert, right? It’s just a barren and arid wasteland, right? Wrong! That fact of the matter is that deserts have their own complex and unique ecosystems much like any other environment from the densest jungles to the frozen mountaintops and you won’t find a finer display of desert wildlife and magic than the Gobi desert.
I recently did some research on the Gobi desert while I was paying some bills and looking into texas electricity providers and I was pretty surprised by what I found at the time. I was planning a trip of my own and for those of you looking to do the same, you might want to do some research on the region and the culture before you buy your tickets – Mongolia is a little out of the way. However, if you can make the trip you will find a harsh but fair wilderness with unique and remarkable inhabitants who have all adapted to overcome the scarcity of water in some truly amazing and unprecedented ways.
You could also learn a little something of the culture and history of this fascinating country as many of the cities associated with the Silk Road are located in this Mongolian desert. So brush up on your Mongolian, dress for the occasion, invest in some comfortable hiking boots and get ready for a journey you won’t soon forget.
